I contacted Adam Smith’s office last week to ask what his thoughts are about DOGE and actions by this administration that are against Congressional rules and against the Constituion. I received a response that can be summed up as follows: 1- it is wrong of this administration to terrorize federal employees 2- the executive branch is inefficient and needs change 3- Elon Musk just may be the right person to do it. So basically in support of this Administration’s movements but not necessarily their tactics.
Just going to leave that here for anyone who might be his constituent as an FYI.
As the head of the Armed Forces Committee in the House of Reps, Adam Smith is mostly funded by corporations like Raytheon, Northtrup Grumman, Honeywell, General Dynamics, and other manufacturers that supply the US military (sourced from Seattle Times 2012, could not find more recent info). These corporations have a lot to gain from more privatization and less contract oversight in the federal government. Adam Smith cares a lot about them, not so much about us or democracy.
