I am looking for volunteers to help senior citizen with smartphones and computers. It’s a fairly easy job as long as you are patient and respectful to them. You will get some hand outs and 1 hour training on methods of teaching
🌱 About the Initiative:
This is part of a broader mission to make tech learning accessible and empowering for seniors, helping them build confidence, independence, and digital skills. I’ve been volunteering for a few years now, and it’s a deeply rewarding experience. We want to expand this effort to reach more seniors across Seattle.
📋 What I’ll Provide:
• Curated syllabus material specifically designed for seniors.
• Connection to clients who need tech support.
• Ongoing guidance and support if you encounter unfamiliar tech issues.
• Quality assurance to ensure a positive learning experience for every client.
📝 What You’ll Do:
• Schedule regular sessions with the same client over 1-2 months, typically meeting weekly in a public place or at their home (based on your preference).
• Personalize the teaching plan to match each client’s needs.
• Document their progress and share feedback with me.
🎯 What You’ll Gain:
• Build meaningful connections with seniors, many of whom have incredible life stories and accomplishments.
• Learn tech skills along the way.
• Join a community of volunteers who genuinely care about making a difference.
📅 Time Commitment:
• 3 hours per week.
• Ages: 18 to 80.
• Clients will be from underprivileged communities, and this service is provided free of charge.
I run Confidentive (https://confidentive.com), a company focused on tech education for seniors, but I believe this effort can also thrive as a volunteer-driven community initiative.
Please DM if you’re interested in learning more or want to get involved. 😊
