You may or may not want to tell your kid they can have their favorite stuffed animal fly. The 7 year old in the picture learned how to sew last year, and then spent the last 3 months designing and sewing his own 20 foot hot air balloon and is planning on taking kids’ stuffed animals up about 20 feet in the air in front of the Space Needle. This is Sunday the 21st around 730pm. After that, 8 actual hot air balloons are going to be glowing in the dark around 9pm. Pilots are coming from around the state to volunteer because getting to put your balloon next to the Space Needle is one of those things that’s just cool. Once it gets dark pilots fire the burners and the balloons light up from the inside. It was honestly pretty neat last year. Full disclosure since somebody will click my username anyway: yes I fly hot air balloons, and I’m bringing one of the eight. Happy to answer balloon questions in the comments specifically about the balloons. submitted by /u/Seattleballooning |
