A perfectly Seattle kind of day

A perfectly Seattle kind of day

So this afternoon, I had the kind of day you can’t have anywhere else but this wonderful city. It started with an alert from the Salish Wildlife Watch that J-Pod was heading south from Edmonds-Kingston ferry lanes with A NEW CALF! We jumped in the car and sped to Richmond Beach Saltwater Park to see the happy family. Then I headed down 99 to meet someone I met on Reddit r/caviar selling a windfall half pound of high-end caviar. We met in the parking lot of the Starbucks Reserve Store in SoDo, made the sale, and I went inside for a pour-over and a pastry. I hadn’t had lunch, so I stopped by PICK-QUICK for a burger (deluxe cheeseburger, single). I then headed to Foraged and Found Edibles in Georgetown to pick up some wild winter chanterelles and douglas fir black truffles from Jeremy Faber, the legend himself. Foraged and Found is the kind of place you couldn’t make up if you tried. When you walk in the door, there’s an intense heady aroma of drying mushrooms and truffles, nothing like it. The sun was setting on some better than average graffiti as I headed home. I stopped at the Shoreline Trader Joe’s for some kettle potato chips (to eat with the caviar) and grapeseed oil (for making infused truffle oil, both to eat and as a training aide for my dog to find truffles). I got a good laugh from the checkout clerk on my day’s highlights.
