With the terrible homicide that happened in UW recently felt I should post my story that happened to me the other day on the light rail. Was riding 2 line north to lynnwood and had vaguely noticed a man in front of myself and my wife looking at us occasionally. Didn’t think much of it as he seemed normal looking (5’8ish Latino with glasses and well trimmed haircut). Once we reached northgate everyone in the car got off besides one other person. He went to get off but started talking to us (apparently holding a big knife but I didn’t realize it then) and after a couple seconds I realized he was not ok in the head so just looked ahead and said nothing… well he then left the train and I watched him walking aggressively to the escalator (with tons of security around, guess they didn’t notice the knife?!), but all of a sudden he turned around and got back onto the train in the car ahead and began walking super fast towards us with the giant knife in his hand. It all happened so fast I didn’t have time to react and was scared to try to flee as didn’t think I’d escape in time or trigger him to respond worse. He came within 2 feet of us with the knife and started saying things (I can’t even remember I was in shock) and finally after about 10 seconds stabbed the train wall super hard a couple times and left right when the doors closed. I talked to security when we got off but have no idea if any investigation comes about from that or if police get involved. Just a reminder to people that appearances mean nothing and be careful. This isn’t the first time I’ve been threatened with my life on the light rail but I always felt safer there than some busses. Be safe out there
