I’ve been struggling with my mental health to the point of needing inpatient care. What I really need is something in-between outpatient and inpatient (like an IOP) but Molina has never covered that for me.
Every program I’ve called (both in-person and virtual) has told me they don’t take Molina. So now I’m being forced to switch insurance, which I’m open to, but it’s really stressful trying to figure out which Apple Health plan is best. Some of my medications require prior authorization, and I’ve had bad experiences in the past with another carrier denying my prescriptions.
What makes it more frustrating is that Molina’s reps keep telling me IOP should be covered, but no one can explain why it isn’t. The only advice I get is to “file a grievance with the hospital,” which doesn’t solve the immediate issue.
I’m anxious about switching plans because I don’t want to end up stuck with something even worse for a whole month. I was told that once the month starts, you can’t switch mid-month, so I only have a few days left to decide.
Does anyone have a recommendation for another Apple Health carrier that’s better for mental health?
