This weekend I experienced a really perplexing food order scam. We ordered food from Indian Spice Bistro in Lake City and when I showed up to pick it up they said somebody else already came and grabbed it, apparently citing my first and last name and even having to wait 5 minutes for the food to finish being prepped!
I discussed the details a lot with management and there’s no way this person saw some receipt to get my name since food wasn’t ready yet. The odd thing I noticed is their website keeps switching back and forth between two different designs, each with there own ordering system, at the same URL. One of the designs has no menu item descriptions which is the one I used to order. So somebody is hijacking their host and spoofing their site just to steal someone’s tikka masala and naan? I’m so confused.
Anyone else encounter a scam similar to this? Wondering what would have happened if I showed up earlier!? They said they’ll check cameras to get a picture of the guy (supposedly bald, mid 40s, white but maybe mixed race)
