There’s a better image of the mural on the artist’s own Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cikoo4NJzi-/ The mural was painted on a building on Roy Street in 2020, shortly after Boseman passed away. You can’t miss it but you might not know all the movies (I didn’t know the last one without looking it up). The movie roles are shown in almost chronological order from left to right, except the first two. In 2014 he played James Brown in “Get On Up”. In 2013 he played Jackie Robinson in “42” (80% on Rotten Tomatoes; some critics thought it was schmaltzy but still agreed his performance was the best part#Critical_response)). In 2018 he became a household name as Black Panther. In 2020 he played a Vietnam veteran in “Da 5 Bloods”, directed by Spike Lee; it was his last movie released in his lifetime (although he was in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, released posthumously). Lee later said he had no idea Boseman was fighting colon cancer during the filming of the movie since he was such a trooper on set. I think the two large portraits of Boseman in the mural are just supposed to represent the person and not any particular role. In January 2024, the artist announced that the building was slated for repainting and the mural might not be there much longer; he seemed philosophical about it, but at least it hasn’t been painted over yet.
