Come join the Second Annual Seattle Super Saunter May 16th!

Howdy Y’all,

Last year I had an idea to see if I could get a group of people to walk the entire length of Seattle in a day. Surprisingly, it turned out that almost 300 people were interested in walking the length of Seattle in the pouring rain. The turnout was so great that it inspired me to host other long-distance walking events from Bellingham to Ballard. But after a hiatus, we are back and gearing up for the original.

On Saturday, May 16th, 2026, the Second Annual Seattle Super Saunter will take place. The concept is simple: walk from the northernmost point of Seattle to the southernmost point. The starting point being the South Shoreline/148th light rail station and the southern point being the unassuming Garden of Gethsemane church. This is not a race, there is no set path and there is no requirement to walk the whole way. The Seattle Super Saunter is an excuse to have an adventure in the city we call home. Run, walk, Lime, pogo stick, see the city how you wish to see it.

For those interested in a group adventure, there will be an option to follow a group over the course of 24 miles beginning around 8am(ish). This suggested route will feature some of Seattle’s most notable sights and perhaps some lesser-known as well. The route will also run close to the light rail line and will allow folks to join during the middle of the adventure
The goal of the Seattle Super Saunter is to encourage folks to walk, appreciate the city we call home, and build community. This totally free event is open to all, and we encourage folks to join for as little or as much of the adventure as they would like.

Finally, maybe just as important as the event itself is the opportunity to share the experience with others, so there will be a meetup at a venue afterwards for folks to share their journeys with one another, build community and celebrate the accomplishment. Tbd on the venue!

Many of you reading this are probably thinking, “Why would I ever subject myself to doing something like that?” and to you, I hope you find some other way to spend your May 16th that brings you joy. But for those whose interest has been piqued, I’d encourage you to follow your sense of adventure. We’ve had folks aged 5 to 85 join the saunters. We’ve had folks who have never walked for more than a few miles at a time, or those in wheel chairs and those that have run the whole thing. We’ve had people meet strangers at the beginning and become good friends by the end, or people meet their partners while walking. Folks who have lived their whole lives in Seattle and those who have only lived a month. The Seattle Super Saunter is fun, free, accessible, and there are so many great reasons to participate.
