Non-profit community choir Magnolia chorale is hosting 2 concert this weekend. Themed “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” after the historic African American anthem written in 1900 by James Weldon Johnson (lyrics) and his brother Rosamond (music), the repertoire celebrates the diverse backgrounds and common aspirations that have built America. The Chorale will sing pieces drawn from a multitude of voices, including African American composer Florence Price, Cree-Dene composer Sherryl Sewepagaham, Venezuelan composer Carlos Cordero, and more. submitted by /u/kim_possimpible |
