Concert-goers in Seattle = The Worst

I’ve been in Seattle for 6 years and this place has the most entitled and disrespectful concert-goer scene I’ve encountered.

Just one example, last night I went to see a show at The Crocodile and the opener had to stop her set to tell people in the front row to stop having a conversation over her while she tries to play. Happens countless times in Seattle. Why spend money at a show you’re not paying attention to, disrupting it for those around you, and actively offending the artists? Just go to the back or outside if you want to talk to your friends…

It’s either this, or concert-goers have total apathy for being at a show. Countless times artists stop shows in Seattle because the crowd comes off as bored, sleepy, or upset that they decided to show up to the show. I’ve never experienced this anywhere else.

Seattle’s strong tech culture and the wealth associated with it breeds entitlement, acting as if they’re above basic etiquette. Why is expressing gratitude, appreciation, and passion for an artist not a thing here?

And before you say, “it depends on the artist”, it doesn’t. I’ve gone to country, metal, punk, rap, DnB, RnB, house shows, and more. I pride myself for my passion for music and desire to watch grassroot artists grow into larger ones. Im not seeing some trendy TikTok artist. The disrespect and apathy is across the board but especially so for smaller artists.

Overall, this doesn’t happen most of the time. However, it happens way more than it should. Can we just stop being ungrateful pieces of shit? Please?
