I’m just dropping this here given Seattle pedestrian traffic deaths and our dark, dark streets. This is a petition supporting a proposed rule by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that would require automakers to meet standards to reduce the severity of pedestrian injuries – particularly those to the head and upper body. The proposal could lead automakers to modify the front design of some vehicles, particularly large pickups and SUVs, to meet the new standards. (Full disclosure, I perform work for Consumer Reports on different issues.)
