Councilmember Conrad Lee’s opponent, Naren Briar, is attempting to lie and deceive the Bellevue public to get votes

After viewing the Bellevue voter pamphlet this year I was struck by the hateful and personal attacks made by Naren briar against her opponent, Conrad Lee: the first minority council member of Bellevue, first Asian American mayor of Bellevue and a widely respected member of the Bellevue community. Council member Lee has given his life thus far towards serving the bellevue community helping transform it into the city we love and to see such a national level of political hate and prejudice descending on our local and loved city of Bellevue I decided to do my own research and felt reddit was the place to share my findings.

I found that Naren Briar is attempting to completely misled the public by claiming her opponent donated money to Trump which would make otherwise uneducated voters who only read the voter pamphlet believe that Conrad Lee donated directly towards the trump campaign or that he donated personally to trump himself which is not the case. As a board member of the national league of cities, a NON PROFIT AND NON PARTISAN organization which seeks to provide local government’s with a voice in federal government, Conrad donated to the PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION COMMITTEE after the current administration was already elected to office earlier this year. That means that whether it was the trump administration, harris administration, obama administration or the biden administration, the donation would have been made regardless of who was in office. Now I agree that it’s not good that donations are necessary to gain a voice in government but it’s the system we live in and this organization is one that does a lot of good for local governments across the nation including bellevue.

As a democrat myself, It is EXTREMELY TROUBLING that someone is running for political office here in Bellevue and seeking to win by deliberately misleading the people of Bellevue to gain votes in a blatant and very malicious misrepresentation of what truly transpired. Naren is attempting to fear-monger people to gain votes through hateful and personal attacks towards her opponent very similar to Trump himself and I beg the people of Bellevue to remain informed, fill in your ballots and to VOTE this election cycle. If the truth and context of what happened was what the public knew i don’t think there would be any issue and i would argue it’s a fair election but by lying and misleading the general bellevue public Councilmember Lee’s opponent is damaging our democratic process and i would also argue it speaks volumes to her character and moral code.
