If you’re in the Bellevue area and enjoy classic theatre, we’re staging Cyrano de Bergerac this week at Theatre33 — Friday and Saturday at 7pm.
For anyone unfamiliar with the story: Cyrano is a brilliant poet and fearless swordsman, deeply in love with Roxane. Convinced he’s unworthy of her because of his appearance, he hides behind wit and bravado — and ends up helping the handsome but tongue-tied Christian win her heart using Cyrano’s own words.
It’s romantic, sharp, funny — and ultimately heartbreaking.
Our production is performed in English with Russian subtitles. We’re leaning into both the poetry and the physical storytelling, balancing swordplay, humor, and emotional intimacy while keeping it accessible for modern audiences.
If you’ve seen Cyrano before, I’d love to hear what moments stayed with you. And if you haven’t, it’s one of those classics that feels surprisingly contemporary in its themes — insecurity, identity, pride, and sacrifice.
