Day trip to Canada?

Hi, new to town, so needing advice on a potential day trip. A friend is coming to visit and really wants to go to Canada. They originally suggested Victoria, BC via ferry. I was thinking Vancouver, BC driving. Both seem like they will take about 6 hours there and back.

1. Is eithr destination “worth” 6 hours of travel for activities we could fit in on the same day? a. Should I be concerned about travel within Victoria w/o a car? The ferry states it is for passengers only. b. Should I be concerned for road conditions to Vancouver?

2. Between both destinations, thoughts on which would be better?

3. Any other nearby destinations that make for a better day trip?
