A few years back, much to my regret, I worked in an Amazon corporate office. It was my first job at a big company, and I didn’t realize just how unusual this was at the time—but as part of our mandatory training, in addition to the standard disaster preparedness stuff (earthquakes, fires, etc.), there was an entire section dedicated to what to do if the building was under siege by protesters for several days.
At the time, I didn’t think much of it. I had no frame of reference, so I just assumed this was a normal part of working in a big office building. But now that I’ve had a couple of other jobs—with zero mandatory castle siege survival scenario trainings—I find it both darkly amusing and dystopian.
Can anyone who works there currently confirm if they still include this in onboarding? And if so… any chance someone has screenshots? I feel like this belongs in the same category as those Cold War-era duck and cover films.
