Wondering if anyone else is running into what seems to be a food delivery scam?
Here’s the situation. I’ve got some young kids, and as a lifeline, I’ve tried to order dinner delivery twice this week. Two different apps (UberEats the first time, then switched to Caviar).
Both times, the restaurant made my order. The app indicated that a driver has been matched for pickup…then nothing. Both times, the restaurant made the order, and when I called them after waiting an hour, they each told me that the food was finished, just no one ever showed up. Both drivers had highly rated accounts, but used fake numbers (no dial tone) in the app. Food just sitting there, abandoned.
What the heck is going on?? Is this happening to anyone else? I feel like there is some sort of scam, but wondered if someone smarter than me knows what’s up.
