Eastside Safe Streets Task Force will crack down on car meets, racing, and modified exhausts

https://bellevuebeatblog.com/2026/02/12/eastside-law-enforcement-agencies-launch-eastside-safe-streets-task-force-a-region-wide-speeding-emphasis/

We now have a regional task force comprising of Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah, and Redmond police who will be coordinating responses to car meets, racing, and modified exhausts. Now, the offenders cannot simply relocate their reckless antics from one Eastside city to another.

Car meets are now specifically part of the crackdown: “events that encourage street racing in the city.” This means that Bellevue will continue to not tolerate car meets at Crossroads or Factoria Mall, in the park and rides, or any other large parking lot where car meets could occur.

This does not mean we community members can stop reporting. We must take advantage of this regional emphasis and report car meets, racing, and modified exhausts to police by calling non-emergency (425-577-5656) or 911 if the racing or modified exhaust is happening live. You should also report car meets ahead of time to bellevuepd@bellevuewa.gov. While the mall management and security at Crossroads and Factoria will continue to request BPD trespass these car meets on their private property, we must keep the pressure on them to continue to do so.
