From Texas to Seattle — Why Do People Talk So Badly About It? We Had an Incredible Experience

Just got back from an amazing trip to Seattle, and I genuinely don’t understand why so many people in the South (especially Texas) speak so negatively about it. I’ve lived in Texas my whole life, and before going, I heard every stereotype — “it’s dangerous,” “people are rude,” “weather is awful,” “no one is friendly,” etc. Honestly, our experience was the complete opposite.

From the moment we landed, people were incredibly kind. We had conversations everywhere we went — coffee shops, restaurants, even just walking around the city. Locals were helpful, welcoming, and genuinely proud of where they live. It felt refreshing.

And the food? Amazing. We tried so many great places: fresh seafood, breakfast spots, bakeries, small local restaurants, Pike Place Market finds — everything was outstanding. We never had a bad meal.

The views were unreal too — water, mountains, beautiful neighborhoods, clean parks, and you’re always surrounded by nature. Even the rainy weather was relaxing in its own way.

Overall, Seattle blew us away. Friendly people, beautiful city, great energy, great food. It was easily one of the best trips we’ve taken, and I’m really thankful for how welcoming everyone was. 🙌

Just wish people would stop talking so poorly about places they’ve never experienced. Sometimes you have to see it for yourself. THANK YOU SEA!! What a gem you are!
