Fuck century link

A couple weeks ago, CenturyLink reached out to me saying they were “transitioning to Quantum Fiber,” but promised that nothing would really change on my end. Fast forward to this week — my internet suddenly dies. Red broadband light on my modem, no connection at all.

After spending forever on the phone, I was told my existing fiber modem is now “incompatible” and I have to schedule a technician to come install “Quantum hardware.” Earliest appointment? Over a week out. No self-install option, no remote provisioning.

Meanwhile, I already had working fiber. The outage only started because of their upgrade, and now I’m stuck without internet for days. I had to authorize annd provide info for auto pay before they would even agree to send a technician out.

I get that Quantum Fiber runs on a different backend, but the rollout feels more like a forced migration than an upgrade. If you’re in Seattle and recently got switched (or suddenly lost CenturyLink service), how long did it take you to get back online? Did anyone manage to self-provision or plug in their own router to bypass the new hardware?

Help me bridge a week of no home internet!

I was so excited to FINALLY ditch Comcast, just to find another evil provider.
