Goodbye to the College Inn Pub and thanks for all the memories!
I’ve been a regular at the Inn for over 20 years, even worked in the kitchen slinging nachos and bowls of chili for 3. The Inn has always been my model for a classic dive bar; perfect for a drink after work, losing at pool, meeting up with friends and getting shithoused on a random no-work-tomorrow-gonna-sleep-on-the-couch kinda night.
Tuesday trivia was the highlight of my week; easily the best I’ve attended for difficulty, craziness and showmanship.
After the Inn succumbed to COVID-19 like so many small businesses in Seattle, it was resurrected by Jen and Al. Instead of rebranding it, purists that they are, they kept the old traditions alive – my utmost respect to them. The Inn was a U District institution, in direct contrast to the ever-changing nature of the neighborhood and this city.
Thank you to the amazing people who worked there and their heavy pours. Thank you to the owners, they worked their hearts out and put everything they had into the Inn. Thank you to anyone who patronized the Inn and supported them, please continue supporting the places you care about.
