Heads up if you plan to travel through the Montlake area this weekend!

From 10 p.m. Friday, July 17, until 6 a.m. Monday, July 20, crews working on the SR 520 Portage Bay Bridge & Roanoke Lid Project will close Montlake Boulevard between E. Hamlin Street and E. Louisa Street.

Let’s get into the closure details:

  • Montlake Boulevard CLOSED between E. Hamlin St. and E. Louisa St. from 10 p.m. Friday, July 17 to 6 a.m. Monday, July 20

Surrounding streets and ramp closure details:

  • From 10 p.m. Friday, July 17 to 6 a.m. Monday, July 20
  • On-ramps from Montlake Blvd to EB and WB SR 520 closed
  • EB SR 520 off-ramp to Montlake Blvd closed
  • 300-foot-long section of E Roanoke St W of Montlake Blvd
  • Lake Washington Blvd closed between Montlake Blvd and 24th Avenue E

The westbound SR 520 off-ramp to northbound Montlake Boulevard will remain OPEN. Important note: this exit is NB ONLY. Travelers will not be able to use the exit and then u-turn to go SB.

A detoured route will remain available for people walking, biking and rolling across SR 520 on Montlake Blvd, with a limited detour south of SR 520.

Here’s a look at what’s closed (and what’s staying open) during this weekend’s Montlake Boulevard closure.

Work during this closure:

Crews will install new foundations for traffic signal mast arms, replace roadway panels on Montlake Boulevard and E. Roanoke Street, and remove unused sign bridge foundations.

Plan ahead, follow signed detours and allow extra travel time.
