Bellevue’s City Council seems likely to pass the proposed Critical Areas Ordinance (CAO) with some very developer-friendly rules about eliminating the Impact Factor, allowing multifamily construction on lots that need a reasonable use exception to even have a single family house. Sadly, the Best Available Science recommendation for stream setbacks that was strongly recommended by WDFW was not included.
The City Council almost decided to delay the CAO update since it doesn’t allow construction on Class III wetland fill, but that will probably be included in a later amendment.
Please write to the Council if you think they should prioritize the recommendations of WDFW and the tribes, or come to the meeting at City Hall, which will be on Dec 9th at 6pm. It will also be Naren’s first meeting as a councilmember – congratulations!
