How do you guys pronounce Camano island?

Hello, im a Beaverton born, Federal Way raised person from “Seattle.”

I have always said “Ka-Main-No” island and I think ive heard it pronounced that way. My friend from central America says its pronounced “Ka-Mon-No” or “Ka-Mah-No” and I said he was pronouncing it wrong.

And he insisted that’s how it is pronounced because the island is named after a Spanish explorer and Camano is a Spanish name: Jacinto Caamaño Moraleja

I had a surprise Pikachu face and now dont know if I’ve just been gas light my whole life.
