Back in the day in pre-Prohibition Seattle, this area was the heart of what was called the Lava Beds or the Red Light District. While no known criming occurred in association with Trump or his restaurant, the building included a basement, and no one knows what went on downstairs. Demolished 1969, building site is now a parking lot. Trump lived across the street in the Pacific House, a residential hotel occupied by Ivar’s in the 1956 pic, today the Baba Yaga Clubhouse. The Pacific House lost its upper three floors in the Seattle Earthquake of 1949. Trump sold his restaurant in 1893 and moved to the Cascade Mountain mining town of Monte Cristo. He returned to Seattle 1897-1898 prior to joining the Klondike Stampede to the Yukon.
