I moved to Seattle for a job out of school and didn’t really have any other options. I work in a field that’s currently doing extremely poorly due to the political climate.
Overall I love the outdoor climbing/hiking/surfing outside of Seattle and I love the most of the people I’ve met that don’t give me the Seattle freeze.
However, I’ve been hating living here. Getting out of the city to the places that make me happy (Index, Cascades, Olympic coast) is unbearable with traffic. Every time I go outside it’s utter chaos. I see a lot of anger and sadness in people I pass on the street. My stuff is constantly getting broken into. Riding my bike to work and for fun feels like Russian roulette. There’s no way in hell im ever going to afford a house here, let alone a decent apartment.
It just feels like I’m paying a premium to feel claustrophobic and anxious. Am I missing something?
I’m asking because I’m at a point where I’m considering quitting this job and starting over the job search just to not live here anymore but maybe I’m missing something?
