Is rabies common with Seattle raccoons?

Hi – was just walking my dog and she and a raccoon got into a brawl. It was around 15-20 seconds of snarling / hissing but she had chased it under a ledge 4-5 feet below me so I could not see what was happening or pull them apart as the raccoon was between me and my dog. The raccoon was absolutely massive, shockingly large it looked like a bear cub, and got away just fine.

I called two emergency vets and one said that as long as her rabies is up to date (it is, booster is due in November) and she has no visible wounds (also true) she should be fine. The second said to bring her into our normal vet tomorrow or Saturday for a booster to be the the safe side and since I’m a hypochondriac (check out my post history) I’m planning on bringing her in first thing tomorrow.

Wondering if anyone has any knowledge about rabies risk in Seattle. I looked it up and seems like a low risk with raccoons and even bats but wanted to double check here.

PS if anyone in Greenwood heard someone screaming F*** SYLVIE, F*** repeatedly around half an hour ago I’m deeply sorry. Neither me nor Sylvie handled that moment well.
