King County Metro hiring for full-time drivers

They’ll providing training and testing for your class B CDL if you don’t already have one (most people coming in do not have a CDL), and the training rate is $23.32 per hour.

Full time operators will start off at $31.39 per hour and top rate is $44.84 per hour. The job comes with great benefits including medical, vision, dental, and a government pension (Washington state PERS). I’ve heard someone working overtime made about $270,000 last year, but you’ll probably have to be working 7 days a week for up to 16 hours per day, and it’ll probably be quite some time before you have that opportunity.

The job is also relatively stable with funding coming from local and federal sources (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act – IIJA signed by President Biden). Metro maybe facing a budget shortfall within a couple of years, but that is some time away.
