Navigating Job Search on L2S Visa After Moving to the US — Feeling Stuck and Seeking Advice 💔

Hi everyone,

I moved to the US from India 8 months ago because my husband got a job here, and I came along on an L2S visa. Back home, I worked hard to build my career—I have a degree in Computer Science Engineering and an MBA. I was excited to start a new chapter here, hoping I could continue working, learning, and contributing in this new country.

But the reality has been… really hard.

Despite applying to countless jobs—project management, product roles, marketing, tech-related—I’ve barely landed any interviews. And in the rare cases I do get a call, the moment they ask “Are you a citizen or a green card holder?” the tone shifts, and the conversation often ends soon after. I understand their concerns, but it’s still disheartening.

The days are getting more stressful. I’m used to being independent, engaged, and driven. And now, I often find myself questioning my worth and wondering if I’ll ever get to work here and grow again.

I do have work authorization as part of my L2S visa and am legally allowed to work. But maybe I’m not presenting myself the right way? Or maybe I need to try something different?

I’m open to freelancing, contract work, remote roles, or anything meaningful where I can contribute my skills. I’ve worked in education tech, brand strategy, content marketing, program coordination, and I also run a small creative business.

If you’ve been in a similar boat, or if you know someone who might be hiring (or just open to a conversation), I’d be really grateful. Even some encouragement or practical advice would mean the world right now.

Thank you for reading this far. ❤️
Trying to stay hopeful,
– (CJ)
