The new Seattle Waterfront bike lane is nearing completion, and progress on the Alaskan Way protected bike lane is visible with the cement barrier now in place. However, a curious feature has emerged: a mulch island sitting awkwardly between these two critical pieces of bike infrastructure. How exactly is this supposed to function?
