Does anyone know of a secular grief support group – especially for widows – that excludes any mentions of God or spirits or afterlife etc.? I am an Atheist, so was my wife, both having experienced severe trauma related to religion/church and both very much of the scientific reasoning that a person’s entire being stops when the brain stops. Anything proclaiming that my spouse “lives on” in some fashion is deeply offensive & makes me physically sick with anger & grief. I am looking for a group with people who have the shared experiencing of knowing this life was it, and our person is truly gone forever, not beside us, not watching over us, not to be reunited with again, just gone, forever.
Even better if in West Seattle or not too far a drive or by transit.
And please just don’t even comment if you just want to spew some religious crap. Or because you want to criticize me of not being tolerent of having religious junk thrown in my face every other word in a support group when I’m broken in pieces from loss. Go do that somewhere else.
This is a legitimate request for a seriously shattered widow.
