Places to volunteer as a Software Engineer?

I’m a software engineer with some experience under my belt and some free time. I know I can volunteer around the city for miscellaneous things, but I figure there may be some demand for my skills instead.

I’d love to help with the city government or nonprofits in the area. Is anyone aware of a place that is looking for help or a resource to find places that are?
