Please take your racing OUT of the city, into our beautiful countryside

Whoever is racing loudly through the city late at night, please stop. You are jeopardizing other drivers, and the pedestrians walking home after late-night shifts and connections. You are disturbing the peace and sleep for thousands of residents: children, babies, teachers, surgeons. So many of us are already stressed and functioning near or at our limit and WE NEED OUR SLEEP to try to cope with each day. You’re also terrifying the animals, especially everyone’s dogs. In short, racing in a city is absolute asshole behavior, in addition to being very illegal.

The residents are on multiple city portals really, really fed up and describing all of this. There are many, MANY 911 calls every time you do this. The residents are going to take matters into their own hands soon. I know at least one cyclist was critically injured last night through his own error as well.

Racing friends, there’s no need to cause all this actual harm doing what you love. Take your awesome cars and bikes and, if you won’t use our nearby actual raceway, go to our GORGEOUS country roads. You will be disturbing folks only by the dozens, if at all, vs the thousands. And it’s beautiful and you can explore Washington. It’s far less likely that the residents will harm you or pursue active penalties against you.
