Quantum Fiber Bogus Unreturned Equipment Charges Scam

TLDR: Watch out for Quantum Fiber trying to sneak bogus charges onto you.

I had a Quantum pod replaced and you have to return the broken pod or you are subject to a $300 fee for unreturned equipment. I returned my equipment within the time frame and double checked the tracking number that it was received by QF. About four weeks later I get an automated email at 2:30am (strange time for important business comm email) that I have been charged $300 for unreturned equipment. The email subject line is vanilla and vague, so as for it to maybe just slip past a quick visual scan. It does not say you have been charged, just that you have received a receipt for returned equipment, which made me think “Oh they received my equipment finally, seems late but whatever.” I double check to confirm and turns out, nope, they charged me for unreturned equipment. Then the email goes on to say if you have returned your equipment, you have to call and provide a tracking number. So of course now I am already frustrated and suspect, as I know they have already received it more than a month ago.

I get a customer service agent on the phone who follows with the usual oh so sorry and such. At which point she says can you confirm the tracking number, and I said wait, you have the tracking number, she said yes. I asked, so you can see that QF received the package 4 weeks ago and you can confirm in your system that I did in fact return the equipment, she said yes. But your company still charged me $300 in the middle of the night…….were you hoping I might miss the charge? These are some scammy business practices, if you ask me. So now I gotta wait 7-10 days to get a refund, plus the aggravation of all of it. Hell of a job Quantum Fiber Seattle.
