Review of Seattle ReCreative Georgetown (a thriftstore for craft supplies)

In-Depth Review:

I went to look for fabrics with a $15 budget and ended up with a nice haul for $14.84. I got 5 new sewing patterns, 2 spools of sewing threads, a pack of buttons, a crochet hook, and 2 1/2 yards of pants fabric. I found the pricing to be extremely reasonable and the store inventory to be widely appealing and well stocked. The patterns ranged from $0.25-$0.50, the button pack was $0.50, the thread spools were $0.50-$0.75 each, and the fabric was a flat rate of $3/yard.

I am an ambulatory wheelchair user and would not say that the Georgetown location was the most accessible. For physical accessibility: The aisles were extremely narrow and items sticking out made clearance tight. There are a large amount of things that you need to be able to stand to view, or have an abled person assist you with to view. For sensory accessibility: I didn’t notice the lights to be overly bothersome but the smells of old paper and vintage store smells were somewhat strong depending on where you were. A mask might be helpful if you are bothered by such things. For Covid accessibility they do offer a masked day/hours during the week for a safer shopping trip.

They had all sorts of products for various crafts ranging from candle making, screen printing, sewing, yarn arts (crochet/knitting/weaving), journaling, painting, and more. They even had a table loom for $250 (a pretty good deal – new ones start at $400). If you are creative in any way this is a place to go!!! Make sure to set a budget before you go in otherwise you might end up with more than you came for.

I feel like everything was sorted pretty well and I wasn’t having to dig through piles to find things. All the yarn was sorted by material and priced accordingly (I’m looking at you Goodwill who charges $20 for a pack of cheap acrylic yarn). The fabric was sorted by color and yardage. I really liked how easy they made it to find things compared to other thrift shops.

There are also classes that they host although I can’t vouch for the experience. They also host birthday parties and the one that was going on while I was shopping seemed like a blast (all these elementary schoolers were having so much fun).
