I spent Halloween night last night visiting with my parents in View Ridge and watching the UW game with my old man. They are older now, in their 70’s. Had a few carved pumpkins out front with candles, lights were on, Dad had raked the leaves from the front walkway, they had gone out and spent 75 bucks on candy. My mom was excited to see the costumes.
Most houses on the street had some level of decoration showing they were “open for business”.
One group, 5 kids. That’s it. Been like that for a few years now
I know some streets / neighborhoods go all out for Halloween (some of Sand Point, parts of Capital Hill, Queen Anne to name a few & I am sure there are others) and they put in a lot of effort and attract a ton of kids. I think maybe social media has exacerbated this in the last few years and now people travel to the “good” neighborhoods for trick or treating. I know some places are super highly trafficked and get upwards of 500-1000 kids in a night. But I don’t know, it’s kind of sad that other neighborhoods are completely devoid and have people sitting by their doors all night with nary a knock.
Kind of a dumb rant, I get it, just was curious if anyone else felt the same way.
