Seattle is #1 for median salary and #2 for tech jobs- But that doesn’t mean much if you’re unemployed

Based on the analysis of 285k job ads, Seattle has a lot going on, but with layoffs and tightening of the labor market, it doesn’t feel like a total win. I’ve met with lots of tech industry workers in the area, sharing that it has been tough and that has been confirmed with the recent unemployment # correction)

When I went to UW ten years ago, tech was the smartest thing to get into because of the draw of a high salary. While that seems to still be the case, I’m not so sure I’d recommend it to most people in school right now given the industry trends.
