I just had the wildest experience with a Seattle cop ever. I have never been pulled over by a cop or gotten a ticket in my life and I’m 31, so I want to preface this by saying I think I am a very safe driver.
I am driving to work on Aurora, and near a street cross section two cars nearly collide into eachother right in front of me, forcing me to slam on my breaks. They didn’t end up hitting eachother and one of the cars pulls in front of me and we are both then stopped at a light. This has nothing to do with the cop, but can give you some context for my headspace. (Also the cop must’ve seen all of this but didn’t care about those actually wreckless drivers?)
A motorcycle pulls into the lane next to me and is fully lined up with my car so I can’t see their lights or anything. The light turns green and I proceed forward and the motorcycle suddenly is trying to merge in front of me AS THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN with only one car in front of me.
He suddenly puts on his cop lights, stops his motorcycle right then and gets out, in the middle of the intersection. He approached my car angry as hell and imediately is yelling how that happened.
I (flustered as hell honestly) told him I could not see his lights or that he was trying to merge and that I don’t typically anticipate people merging right in front of me at a light. He asks again HOW THE HELL I DIDNT SEE HIM. I tell him again. He then says “you still didn’t answer my question! Are you on drugs?! You must be on drugs!”. I told him I didn’t know how to answer the question better.
He takes my license and registration and tells me I’m going to get a citation in the mail.
How is this okay? Can I fight this? I don’t even know what he is going to cite me for!
