I was really impressed yesterday at how smoothly the trains were running especially with such high ridership. Usually what happens is one station that is packed fills the trains to the brim, causing every train to be super delayed because no one can get on or off and screw over the other stations that might be experiencing high ridership. My girlfriend and I were concerned yesterday when we went to the westlake station around 8 PM but were pleasantly surprised that despite there being well over 500 people in line for the train, it only took 15 minutes for us to get on. I saw that the employees at our station and presumably other stations were only letting on around 100 to 150 people at a time, which while not reaching the maximum capacity of the train did mean that the trains were running on time and there was room to board and deboard easily. Usually with high ridership events, there is just a giant mob that is on the platform and it takes like 30 minutes to an hour to get on because all the trains are delayed, but yesterday the trains were actually running on time if not early. Anyways props to the light rail employees I hope they do this again for other high ridership days.
