The acting County Executive and the Mayor have just announced a plan to support WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program participants in the event funding runs out during the ongoing federal shutdown.
Public Health SKC will issue one-time vouchers for food and formula, through a partnership with Safeway, as early as the end of October, but no later than the beginning of November. Vouchers will expire on December 31.
Funding will come from the County’s Best Start for Kids initiative (1.5m) and the City ($500k+).
More from the Executive’s Office press release here.
