With SPD on a “hiring binge” i’ve been noticing a lot more ads from them. One in particular is a video of a man jumping off a bridge onto train tracks. Luckily the cop gets him out of the way in time. I’m sure most of you remember when this happened. But i’ve seen that same video like 10 times in the past couple of weeks. It feels like they’re exploiting a traumatic moment for marketing purposes instead of focusing on real community engagement or addressing public concerns. I get that they want to highlight the positive actions of officers, but there has to be a better way than replaying someone’s crisis over and over again. It comes off more like a PR stunt than a genuine effort to build trust. What do ya’ll think, am I overreacting?
