In 2010/2011, there was a design store across the street from REI and next to Espresso Vivace in Cascadia/South Lake Union called Velocity Art and Design. In 2010 or 2011, I was shopping there around the holidays and came across a set of 27 wooden laser cut, modern snowflake ornaments like these: https://a.co/d/i9qOKdy (but not these, the ornaments in question are nicer).
There was a woman there, I’m guessing in her mid to late 20s, who also had her eye on the set. One of us commented that we really liked them, but had no need for 27 snowflakes. The woman asked me if I’d be interested in splitting the set, and I enthusiastically agreed.
We paid, somehow splitting the cost (this was before payment apps after all), and then stood in the store selecting the ornaments we wanted either one or two of. She also said I could have the wooden storage box.
Anyway, it’s that time of year again, and it’s been 13 or 14 years now since that lovely, festive experience. I’ve put the snowflakes on my tree again, and have for probably the 30th time wondered where that cool, nice woman is now.
