Swedish Request for Donations for…Caregivers?
Is anyone else offended by Swedish sending out an email asking their patients for donations for Swedish caregivers?
“As the Chief Medical Officer at Swedish, I get to see our physicians, nurses and staff provide world-class care to our community every single day. They are here for all of us – with compassion and innovation that changes and saves lives. And behind our dedicated caregivers are generous community members who help make that possible.
By making a gift to honor our caregivers, you can champion great health care. You will recognize their hard work and dedication, as well as invest in expanding and enhancing the care they provide across our community. It only takes a moment, but it makes a lasting impact.”
Then a quote from the Executive Medical Director, Neurology. “Support from donors helps make our work possible. And as a result, it enhances the life and the experience of people facing illness and disease.”
I’m sorry, what? This is a major medical care provider in the PNW and they are asking for more money from their patients? To support their own employees? Someone please tell me I’m misunderstanding what’s going on here.
Directly ahead of enrollment season. When families are already going to be seeing increased premiums.
This is the kind of tone-deaf PR I expect from [withheld political reference]. Who seriously thought this email would hit right with the general public? Bsfrrn.
Someone pour a cool bucket of water over me. Call me a dolt and gently explain how I’m misunderstanding this email.
