Thank you, Magnolia

My mom suffers from Schizophrenia sadly but is still functional and doing a lot better than when I first came back to Washington. Today, whenever she visits she likes to go for walks; she went all the way down to the beach in Discovery Park and eventually became lost. She told me there was a nice family there that assisted her in finding the way back to where I live. They also gave her some water and cheese due to how long of a hike it is. She became lost again and a lady on a bike helped her with directions, then she eventually found her way back home. She is not the most tech-savvy person in the universe, in fact she should not even be walking due to her recovering from a car accident (was not her fault). I love her a lot but I obviously can’t control her actions or babysit her 24/7 (I do have her location on at all times but am going to monitor it even more so when she’s here) and I just wanted to say thanks for the people that helped her today, it means a lot and has partially restored some of my faith in humanity.

I’m a very disgruntled, jaded, angry veteran who is a work in progress. I guess if this was Disco Elysium I’d be rocking a “Fuck The World” jacket. Acts of kindness like this do go a long way and inspire me more to be the change that I want to see in the world, even if it’s a little bit such as asking a stranger who’s crying if everything’s okay and hearing them out.

So thanks Magnolia, I really do appreciate this neighborhood.
