TLDR: Leave comments on this map by 11:59. Some areas most at risk of being zoned for less housing or eliminated include: Bryant, Phinney Ridge, Madrona, Montlake, Queen Anne and Maple Leaf. If you want more housing and cheaper rent, zoom in on a dark brown LR3 and leave a comment in support of the zoning changes, specifically the LR3 and MR1 zoning.
Since my last post, the number of comments has ~doubled, mostly from anti-housing folks. Community Councils have riled up their members to leave comments and email their councilmembers. To avoid watering down the proposed zoning, it’s best to leave specific comments about specific already proposed zoning changes. Seattle is not taking comments on urban/regional centers like Downtown or Roosevelt, so only comment on colored areas.
As housing is a citywide issue and the citywide elected mayor is making these decisions, you don’t have to live in an area to comment on it.
NIMBYs are hosting town halls or emailing their lists to prevent changes allowing housing near them. We have lots of evidence showing that market rate housing reduces rent and supports fiscal sustainability. Make your voice heard to create a more affordable fiscally sustainable Seattle here
