Watch your back (Assault in First Hill)
Yesterday afternoon, my husband was assaulted from behind in front of the Seattle First Baptist Church. He was hit hard enough that he actually believed he’d collided with a cyclist or a Lime scooter, but when he looked up he just saw a guy jogging away and heard a “sorry, man”. He thought it could have been an accident, but a few (amazing) ladies scurried across the street to tell him the guy came up at a run, two arms fully extended, to push Husband from behind as hard as he could.
Husband is now nursing a broken arm that might require surgery.
None of the descriptions of the guy are very helpful because everyone saw him from the back – the only thing everyone can agree on is that he was about 5’10” and fairly nicely dressed with a black backpack. They thought he might be white, but weren’t sure.
We highly doubt anyone will find the guy, but wanted to post both in case this becomes a pattern and this guy keeps shoving people or escalates, and as a reminder of what wonderful helpers we do have in this city. Thank you so much to the women who helped him and provided descriptions to the police while Husband regained his bearings from his human barrel roll.
