Address: 1920 Dexter N Match: Canada/Bosnia-Herzegovena, noon June 12 I’ve long wanted to visit the Swedish Club for their monthly Swedish pancake breakfast, but this is the first time I’ve made it. I used to bike by all the time, as it’s at the top of the hill on the Dexter bike lane. But ever since they built the Westlake Trail I’ve rarely come this way. Today I made the half hour ride from NE Seattle. The Club is showing all games involving Sweden, Norway, the US and Canada in their bar, which opens an hour before kickoff. There’s plenty to drink, of course, and at lunch time a reasonable menu. I presume there will be food in the evenings as well. I chose a Carlsberg and the Nordic Comfort Classic lunch. Both were fine. The crowd was lively, more like a bar, although most people were there for the socializing and not the match. I assume there will be more fans for the matches involving the US or Sweden. The seating was a little more comfortable than you might expect from the photo. Tables definitely help with this. The big drawback is that their bar is so sunny that it’s impossible to find a seat with no glare. You might think this would be improved in the evening games, but the sun sets after 9 this time of year, so I doubt it. If I get a chance, I’ll be back for a game featuring Sweden. submitted by /u/Worldly_General_5672 |
