I was taking my dog out to pee earlier today, and about a block away from my apartment in the central district I saw a guy make a wrong split second decision around a car while he was riding an electric scooter. Long story short: he fell face first, he was unconscious for at least two minutes, I called 911 while I administered first aid, and eventually the paramedics showed up.
I think the guy will be “fine”, but the next couple weeks of his life will probably be defined by how traumatic of an injury he experienced (being unconscious is SUPER bad for you).
The car he hit was going like 5 MPH. He was going like 15 MPH max. If he had been wearing a helmet he would have fallen over, and then just stood up. Instead, he likely has a frontal lobe injury that could take weeks, or months to heal.
Anyways…just wear a helmet y’all. You’re seconds away from a life changing injury.
