Weird scam?

Just wondering if this is a well known scam. So my bf and I were finishing up a late night gym session around Belltown. We left the gym and were stopped by a young woman with a suitcase. She said she had just come in from Hawaii and that they had cancelled an onward flight (something like that), and that the uber had just left her in this random spot. We suggested she book a hotel, she countered she didn’t have enough money to do so. She asked if we knew any places she could stay, i.e. a hotel lobby.

We said we didn’t know, that most places residential or commercial wouldn’t allow people to stay in the lobby. We suggested if she was desperate to purchase the daily pass for the gym that was open 24h or head to a 24h diner close by and just order a coffee or soft drink. We said we couldn’t help her beyond that.

While she said she didn’t have a lot of money she never explicitly asked us or demanded anything from us. Google gives examples of somewhat similar cons but mostly these people will ask for money. We usually assume things are fishy and keep it moving, but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this in particular.
