What are the best ways to volunteer and support the various disadvantaged and struggling folks in our community?

I am aware and worry every day about people who are struggling including those with addictions and issues with money and housing, the elderly who feel alone in elder care, etc. What are the best and most impactful ways I can volunteer to help those that need it in our community? Are there people who need help that are even left out of the conversations and efforts trying to help marginalized individuals?
